planning-9-months-aheadThe 9 months of pregnancy is both challenging and exciting for any mother in expectancy. The lists of Dos and Don’ts are as exhaustive as a mother-in-law’s time-tested advice. Take folic acid, take vitamins, take enough protein, enough fat in diet, regular exercise, regular check-up, no caffeine, no fish, no hot dogs, no tap water, no hot baths, no stress… No Stress? The avalanche of pre-cautionary information is overwhelmingly stressful for any mother-to-be.

Before any expectant mum could grapple with the choices to make in these 9 months of journey to a smooth delivery of her baby, she now has to contemplate on what’s to come in the next 9 months. This article hopes to alleviate any fear that one may be burdened with by outlining the main issues that broadly encompass the needs of a newborn in this period.

Without going through a long-winded essay, I’ve prepared a simple and easy-to-read roadmap in an Excel table format that documentsplanning-9-months-ahead-2

1. The physiological needs (food intake, sleep, bath, playtime, excretion, health, safety)
2. Itemized things (milk powder, sterilizer, muslin, body wash, play pen, stroller, thermometer, bed guards etc) to buy or prepare
3. Cost estimates for each item
4. The above are cross-tabulated against the baby’s month-by-month journey

I believe this information will provide the foundation in which you can have a framework of what to expect and how you can plan financially as well. The attached image is a sample of the full spreadsheet. If you would like to have a free copy, please contact me I will be more than happy to forward to you.
