Caroline Francis has been a sub-editor and writer for over 20 years. She spent 12 years working with an awesome team at IT Publications (New Straits Times Press, Malaysia) where she was the assistant chief sub-editor for its technology pullout, Tech & U (formerly known as Computimes).
When the early ’90s spawned technological breakthroughs, she was au fait with the-then latest software and gadgets even before the public could get their hands on them, and even published her reviews and opinions in a fortnightly column called Mobile Matters. In 2007, she bid NST adieu and moved to Singapore where she worked alongside a talented editorial team for eight years and became the senior sub-editor and senior writer at MediaCorp Publishing. She has edited and written for various publications, including Elle, Mother & Baby, Style:, Style:Men, Style:Weddings, and health magazine Lifewise. A bi-linguist, she is proficient in the Malay language and was the senior sub-editor for Manja, a Malay entertainment and lifestyle magazine, for several years.
Even after leaving the workforce recently, this mum of two is constantly kept on her toes as she spends her “free time” freelancing as a writer and sub-editor and hopes, one day, to complete – once she starts, that is! – her first novel. She has an MA in Communications Management from the University of South Australia and a BA from the University of Malaya.
